Glenmuir PGA Professionals Championship
Well, what an event and what weather!! The course was playing superb, but this did not match my golf.....the course was simply too long for me....it seemed every hole I played after finding EVERY fairway from the tee, I had 193 yards left!!! Unfortunately, I missed the cut and had to make the long journey home.....still at least I learnt something.....my driving is good, my putting is good, my approach play is good.....just have to hit it further....
How are you all getting on with your practising....I hope you have been down to the range at Padbrook Park and I hope you have hit the ball well....
For me, a couple of relaxing days off and then back to work....more lessons, more club fitting, seeing pupils improve and welcoming more golfers to fantastic Padbrook Park, Cullompton, Devon

Glenmuir PGA Professionals Championship
Just played a practise round at The Oxfordshire. Good course, superb greens, long but very scorable. Hoping for a good day tomorrow and Wednesday, so I will keep you all informed as to progress. Not teeing off till 1.10 tomorrow, so plenty of time to relax. Early start on Wednesday, 8.10am, lets hope for some nice weather.

I am now off to The Oxfordshire Golf Club for the Glenmuir PGA Professional Championship. 156 fellow professional competing for the title of PGA Professional Champion 2010 and the chance to represent Great Britain and Ireland against the USA next year in the PGA Cup matches, the clu pro's equivalent of the Ryder Cup.
Remember to keep coming down to the driving range at Padbrook Park, Cullompton, Devon to keep your game in tip top shape.

The Golf Idol Progress
Martyn Cherry, my selected member for The Golf Idol, has been showing amazing signs of improvement this summer. Martyn started out with a 28 handicap last November and has seen his handicap reduced to 21. Martyn has been on a programme of lessons and practice focusing on technique and targets. With a little help with his course management, Martyn has started to see the results of his hard work. He currently leads the Wednesday Night Stableford League table, finished runner-up in the Padbrook Park Club Championship (Nett) and has had numerous other top-10 finishes in club competitons.

The Golf Idol is a project whereby I take golfer who is struggling with their game and turn them into a decent player in 12 months.
I am in the process at the moment of taking a golfer who last November could not shoot a score below 110 shots for 18 holes of golf.
We overhauled his golf swing and put him onto a programme of practise which he has stuck to throughout the year.We have just had our club championships at Padbrook Park and he finished runner-up!! No mean feat in itself, but considering where he was with his game in November, it is a monumental achievement.
